Quick question before I buy my hardware
-
Hi guys,
I am brand new to pfSense. It looks like the perfect solution for my requirements. I have a quick query before I buy my hardware. I'm looking at a micro PC with 2 NIC ports - 1 WAN and 1 LAN. I would like to setup my pfsense box with an OVPN client. However I don't want all my devices to go through the VPN. Obviously the WAN port on my pfSense will be connected to my ISP modem. However can both VPN traffic and regular ISP traffic go through the single LAN NIC on the pfSense box. Or do I need two dedicated LAN NICs for my devices, one for VPN and one for ISP?
Many thanks,
Hal

Hi there,
As far as I know you only need the two ports. You can then configure pfSense to route certain things through your VPN and/or to explicitly not route certain other things through the VPN.

A 2 port machine is fine for what you are describing.

You only need one WAN and one LAN port.
