In the past (2.6) we always had to deal with patching/updating Realtek drivers.
And avoid using Realtek in production altogether in production systems.
Is this still the case with 2.7.2?
Or are the built in drives in a better state where they should not have to be messed with?
They seem to be working fine.
But just wanted to ask this and find out.

I feel more like I do now.

From what I have seen, Realtek should still be avoided.

I have been running an Intel 2.5GbE WAN and a Realtek 2.5GbE usb to ethernet for LAN and haven’t had many issues (if none at all).

Although, I am running pfSense on Proxmox which runs Debian and heard that Debian handles Realtek drivers differently.

The alternate driver still prevents some issues for some NICs and supports some additional models. The kmod pkg is in our repo now though so you can just install it from the command line directly.
