Squid and cachemgr_password
-
Hello fellow Netgate community members, I just researched and found that we can set a password for cachemgr for use with cachemgr.cgi so that the GUI is secure. However your package status page must also be adapted so that it still displays information. Example, I have password set the manger info page to make it more secure. However your status page must also be set to use this within your /usr/local/www/status_squid.php All you have to do is add a @Password _here after mgr:info to allow access to your status page still. Yes it is that simple to secure your cachemgr.cgi and still have access to GUI package tools. This is part 2 of making cachemgr.cgi accessible this makes it also secure from the web browser system.
