I have a physical pfSense firewall running version 2.7.2 It’s been up for several days and it’s currently disconnected from the interface on purpose and has been for about eight hours. This has been done before and it’s never caused me an issue out of the started hearing a beep approximately every three seconds ongoing not ending. And I’ve looked at the firewall logs look fine in the dashboard look fine thermals are fine. The firewall seems to be running properly. Any suggestions or ideas that might help me resolve this issue? I would like to look at it before I force reboot on the firewall .

Update approximately 30 minutes later the beeping stopped all on its own might be related to hardware. Can’t find much on the Internet Internet related to PFS looking for any help or resources like he get A hold of the subject.

      Much appreciated

Nothing in the software would beep like that.

You'll hear a chime at startup/shutdown and a single beep for certain "emergency" console messages but that's it.

More likely it's a function of that hardware. Over the years I've seen various bits of hardware have a warning/failure tone but usually it's more high-end gear that also has a warning light with the beep, like for a redundant PSU failures or RAID disk failures.

Thank you for the reply. I agree I think it was a bit hot so I took care of that and it's been running fine all day without a reboot evenafter the beeps. It's been up for going on 4 days now.

          have a great day
