S.M.A.R.T. not available on Netgate 2100 in 24.03?
-
I upgraded my 2100 today, and I'm a little surprised SMART info for SSD media is not available on the 2100 anymore.
The UI menu is still there and so is the widget. But using the CLI there is no longer a smartctl command available. Is that on purpose or an unexpected flaw in my upgrade?
-
That doesn't appear to be intentional, we're looking into it.

Created a Redmine issue to track it, we should be able to get it back in the repo without too much effort but for systems which already upgraded you may have to run a
pkg
command to get it back once it's ready. For example, pkg install smartmontools
. But it's not there yet.Watch https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/15433 for updates.

@jimp No problem, Thanks for looking into it.
Will you post when its online?
Then Iโll just install it using the pkg command. There should be No downsides to that compared to going back to the previous bootenvironment and upgrade all over again right?
-
It's up now. You don't need to reinstall or re-upgrade you can fix it a couple different ways:
You can trigger an update of the meta package to pick it up as a dependency:
pkg update; pkg upgrade -y
Or you can install just the package directly:
pkg update; pkg install -y smartmontools
Anyone upgrading from this point forward will have it automatically, as will anyone who installs fresh using the online network installer.

@jimp Worked like a charm with โpkg upgrade -yโ :-)
Thanks for the quick fix.

Nice thread - I plan on moving to ssd on my sg4860 when I install 24.03.. Having smart will be handy.
