Direct web browser access to device on OPT2?
-
First time poster, new pfSense user and networking newcomer. To begin, I will say that I don't know what I'm doing, so please forgive my extreme ignorance.
I have a device that interfaces with my workstation via web browser only. This device must also have Internet access and be able to call home to two domains. Here is how the setup has been for this device:
ISP Modem > ISP Router > Protectli Box (FW4B) w/ pfSense > (LAN) Managed Switch > Device and Workstation both on this switch. All ports are confirmed to work properly. Everything worked like a dream for about six months. About three weeks ago, I came in and everything was down, in terms of this network. I still don't know what happened, but I ended up resetting my workstation and the Protecli to factory and then loaded Michael Bazzell's pre-configured settings and installed pfBlockerNG. I also added some firewall rules that should have allowed traffic to and from the requisite domains. Still, no joy.
The device manufacturer advised that the VPN may be the issue. Michael Bazzell's configuration leaves the OPT ports unprotected by the VPN, so I thought it might work to plug the device directly into OPT2 (OPT1 is occupied). The status lights on the device appear to indicate that it is able to communicate with the appropriate domains, so it should be ready to go, but here is the problem:
I don't know how to directly access another device plugged into an OPT port from the workstation on the LAN.
NOTE: I cannot see the IP addresses of either the machine plugged into OPT1 or the device plugged into OPT2.
Thanks a million in advance for anyone who tries to help with this.
