      Greetings,

today I found a flurry of patches to make for pfSense 2.7.2.

If I don't apply the patches and in the meantime a new version comes out, can I install it? or do I have to apply the patches first?

Do the patches have to be installed in a certain order or does it not matter?

@Unoptanio If you intend to upgrade you can just upgrade. Normally patches are incorporated into the next pfSense version. If not they would be in System Patches there. Which last I looked was empty for 24.03. But, there is not a 2.8 yet.

        https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/development/system-patches.html

In the past there have been one or two patches that are related and IIRC are marked as such. As per the doc you can just Apply All and be done. And maybe restart if noted/needed.

Sometimes new patches for CE are noted in the Plus release notes. These are not, but see Jim's post https://forum.netgate.com/topic/187622/system-patches-package-v2-2-10_1. Usually he posts updates in that category.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

Ok thanks, I applied all the patches and performed the normal system reboot. Everything seems to be working fine.
