No post/view count on Unread page

@SteveITS A while back I edited some stuff in my profile, and that unread rarely shows any numbers any more.. I was tired of it showing 99+ heheh.. When I know I had gone through every thing I was wanting to read..

I think now it only shows numbers when I have not read a topic that I am following or something..

Yeah if they recently updated the forums software, quite possible its a new bug.. Remember last update there were a few of them that were noticed.. They just recently fixed the one of them. But it was before this recent update where forums were under maint for a while.

@SteveITS I am seeing the same issue.
If I visit a page directly e.g., recent, the Votes Posts and Views counts are all blank. If I then click the Recent Icon at the top of the page, the counts appear. Same behaviour for Unread.
For me, every time, 100% reliable.
Started roughly 3 days (not sure exactly) ago.

I was seeing that too for the last few days, but right now it's working again. I use Safari and generally go directly to

https://forum.netgate.com/unread

via a bookmark. The new posts are all there, but the counts were not.

So changed my settings so see stuff in unread, and views are showing for me.. Will check on it now and then.

I see that in limited testing as well.

Clicking the toolbar icon (which shows the counts) shows only the CORS block.

Not sure why it's poking Reddit or LinkedIn...I do have an ad blocker plugin though.

In my case, both uBlock origin and pfBlockerNG in use.

Not seeing connections to reddit or linkedin though.

Switching between recent and unread seems to make it work as normal.

and similar errors there, loading snap.licdn.com and px.ads.linkedin.com which are blocked by pfBlocker.

Edit 2:
reloads are failing on wss://forum.netgate.com/socket.io as above. A private window doesn't show the other URLs though, need to dig into that.

Also the forum is missing counts on the home/category page sometimes. Probably all the same code.

As noted Firefox private window didn't call the other analytics URLs.

I opened Chrome, which I rarely use, and according to Chrome's inspector it looks like the odd calls are coming from Google:

Would not have expected that. It apparently does not call that in Firefox private window, but DOES in a Chrome incognito window. I wonder if it's detecting that somehow.

Anyway, digression over, back to the missing numbers. :)

Hmm, odd. I don't see that at all but I think I'm blocking all that. Probably in multiple places!

what is 'my' browser told do look for things on reddit, linkin google, and some others ?
Is this just a way to get the site more known ?

look up a few posts. :) it’s coming from the Google tracking. As to why…dunno.

Mmm, no idea on that. I don't see any of that stuff but I have several layers of ad blocking.

If Googletagmanager.com was blocked it couldn’t pull in the others.

I don’t personally care, I was just seeing the errors on the other two scripts, and didn’t understand why.

We have a rolling conflict here; my wife works in paid search so needs her ads to “work,” but I don’t particularly want any, and we agree our son doesn’t need ads on all his screen time. And she insists her iOS private relay works. So we have odd blocking at times. :)
