SG-1100 PfSense Plus: Unable to check for updates
-
While trying to upgrade my Netgate SG-1100 (pfSense Plus) I do get the message "Unable to check for updates". I've tried several options from https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html but none seems to work. This issue is ongoing for at least 6 months.
Current version: 22.05-RELEASE (arm64)
Update branch set to: "Current stable version (23.01)"The command
pfSense-upgrade -c -d
gives errors like:
pkg-static: https://pkg01-atx.netgate.com/pkg/pfSense_plus-v23_01_aarch64-pfSense_plus_v23_01/packagesite.txz: Authentication error
Attached is a logfile with the complete output of the command:
pfsense_upgrade_error.txtThings I've already tried without luck:
- Halt the system for a minute
- Disable the SafeXcel hardware (with a halt of the system)
- Using "Previous stable version (22.05)"
pkg-static clean -ay; pkg-static install -fy pkg pfSense-repo pfSense-upgrade
pkg-static bootstrap -f
pkg-static update -f
Any options I can try to upgrade the system to a newer version?

@rensl There are probably other things to try. But, if your router is not using ZFS (?), reinstalling will skip past a couple of upgrades and get you using ZFS (and hence boot environments etc).
The file system will show in the dashboard Disk widget. It was the default starting with v22.01 if I recall correctly.

@SteveITS Thank you for your reply!
The command
gpart show
gives the following output:
=> 1 15273599 diskid/DISK-E1234567 MBR (7.3G) 1 131072 1 efi (64M) 131073 70012 2 fat32 (34M) 201085 15072515 3 freebsd (7.2G)
And the ZFS widget shows
No ZFS pools are configured.
. So I guess that means ZFS is not used. -
Yes I would probably just reinstall 24.03 clean. However you may be able to upgrade from there by setting the ranch back to 22.05 and then force reinstalling the key packages:
