If it fails on a FreeBSD 14 snapshot it's not going to work in pfSense yet.

Failing to mount root like though is usually a drive issue though. Are you seeing that just booting the installer or first boot after installing?

@stephenw10 on the Installer, USB and IPMI. I was thinking about Installing on the deferent system and them moving the drive over to see what would happened.

Good test. That might work since the drive would likely be using a different driver at that point.

That's something pretty low level though if it fails to find a USB drive and a virtual CD drive(?).

            Hi, hitting the Same Wall.
Supermicro A3SSV-8C-SPLN10F with P5000, usb image and ISO via IPMI. (Install failed)

After some diging around i found some info that Freebsd 14 (half year back)was not working in the begining same error with install, but current 14 will work.
Already tried and i can install current 14 without Problem from Stick and ISO.

So it looks like Netgate "needs" to upgrade there Freebsd14 stuff, or maybe the Plus installer will work (if newer).

Pfsense uname -msr shows: FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT amd64 -> Freebsd shows FreeBSD 14.0-RELEASE amd64 (mh strange should Current not be more recent)

              In 2.7.2?

You have a link to the fix?

                Sorry to clear this up:

when u download the Freebsd 14-Release iso from off. Site, install works. (half year back it was not)
                uname -v
                FreeBSD 14.0-RELEASE #0 releng/14.0-n265380-f9716eee8ab4

Pfsense+ (i dont have 2.7.2 to check) uses Freebsd 14-Current
                uname -v
                FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT amd64 1400094 #1 plus-RELENG_23_09_1-n256200-3de1e293f3

so Pfsense uses an older Freebsd 14 version.
so if its is Updated to release or newer current Version it will Work without Problem with P5000.

                wbr Alex

Can you test 24.03-beta? That's built on FreeBSD 15 so should work.

Hi, where can i get it for testing?
This is for my home Lab Pfsense+ (the deprecated homelab+ (no tac)). (also this is the new Hardware, no id now)
I have Tac add Work but dont want to mix IDs.

Next Problem, even with full Tac u need a Netgate ID to Order Beta, but since the installer ist not running i have no ID.

Right now the only way to get it it to upgrade from 23.09.1 which makes it tricky if you can't install directly.

But you could move the drive from something else to at least test if it will boot.

Its working now with the Plus 24.02 beta installer.
Only cavehat u need to run the installer , note the NDI, contact TAC support to pre activate that NDI.(because new Hardware)
After that Installer will run and detect activated NDI so u can install.
