On 2.7.0 and nothing newer available
-
I'm on 2.7.0. A newish install on a new PC (Hunsn with i226 ports that work fine. Lots of RAM and storage)
The admin page says I'm on the current release and nothing newer is available.

Try running
certctl rehash
at the command line and then recheck. -
No changes.

@coffeecup25 as documented that may be required. There are other solutions; see https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html#upgrade-not-offered-library-errors

Thanks, I'll try this in the next couple of days. I'll also try a simple reboot first just to see if it works.
I have a spare router configured for emergencies. I'll hook it up and do a fresh install on the Hunsn PC with a settings restore if needed.
I used pfSense for many years prior on another pc and had no problem. I went to a simple TPLink ER605 with pihole on the side from there because my life had simplified. But pihole in Hyper-V on Windows 10 kept hanging due to Microsoft's constant advertisements for this and that. pfBlockerNG is more stable with everything in one place and I ger the same blocking. Fortunately I still have the old setup available for emergencies.
Edit: I just tried to download 2.7.2 CE. Your captcha is obnoxious. Some require 5 or more checks and I still get marked wrong. I finally got one right and after it looked I was going to get my download, I got sent back to the captcha. If I have to go back to the ER605, I may stay there a while.

Hmm, where is that? On the store? I've never seen it but I guess my login may bypass it.
-
I tried a different browser and went directly to create an account and got in.
The captcha entered the picture originally when I fumbled around a bit seeing if I had an account already or needed a password change. Seriously, the worst captcha I have ever encountered.
But, a new problem. I downloaded 2.7.2, according to the web page, and ended up with 24.02 beta2. Twice on two different attempts. Done experimenting for now. Life was simpler before this.
I'll try to get everything fixed as one would expect it should be. I won't try the fix for another couple of days. If I keep encountering annoying problems, I'll turn the Hunsn PC into an ubuntu server dedicated for pihole and that will solve my reliability problem. The ER605V2 will go back into service.

That's the expected version. It's (confusingly!) the installer version. You can install 2.7.2-REL from that.

I took a look at the page you asked me to work from.
Then I went to system / update / system update and found the dropdown box.
If I update to 2.7.2 from the dropdown box, will that work without causing any problems? The link you provided is not clearly written and seems to contain a lot of steps and considerations that don't seem needed if the current version is in the dropdown box.
-
If you see 2.7.2 offered you should just be able to upgrade to it in the normal way.
If you have any concerns try upgrading from the the console menu. You will get more debug information to resolve any problems there.
-
@coffeecup25 Maybe, someone changed the version to 2.7.0, maybe to install or update a package before upgrading? But sure you can just select 2.7.2.
In versions 2.7.2 and later, IIRC, it will default to "the currently installed" version and needs to be changed to upgrade.
The troubleshooting doc has a whole bunch of things to try but if you can see 2.7.2 offered you shouldn't need them.

I finished the upgrade.
I had to use the dropdown box and go from 2.7.0 to 2.7.1. After that update completed I went to 2.7.2, It would not allow an update from 2.7.0 to 2.7.2.
After the update to 2.7.1 the admin screen still said I was on the current release.
Otherwise it went smoothly and quickly. The processor in the Hunsn (passmark about 2400) made it fly relative to my older slower pcs from the past.
Thanks.
