I'm running pfsense 2.7.2. I was having an issue with my primary WAN connection periodically going offline. A modem reset would always bring it back up. I figured the modem may be toast, and replaced it. Now if WAN goes offline, pfsense does not detect it and mark the gateway offline. There is no packet loss detected in pfsense, even while that WAN connection is completely unusable. I haven't changed any settings, gateway monitoring is enabled, etc. The end result of this is failover internet does not work. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

@sef1414 What monitor IP are you using ?
Try changing that to something that is not the modem itself. Perhaps a DNS server from your provider ?

That is ok, no need to change that.

Did you tick any of these? If so, remove the ticks and check if the problem persist.

@mcury Nope. All normal there, none of those boxes are ticked. I hadn't changed any gateway configs when the problem started.

Check your gateway group, it could perhaps be pointing to the old gateway ?
Not sure if IPs changed since you replaced the modem.

This is a new issue that I didn't see before.
If you can, share more details.
