Recommendation for a cellular modem?

I am looking for a cellular modem with an Ethernet port. Ideally, it would not also be a cellular ā Wi-Fi gateway.
As I am in the U.S., it would have to be able to handle SIM cards from Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile.
The idea is to use it in a WAN failover configuration.

A M.2 card in an external case with USB port is working here at my site
well for around 100 ā¬The idea is to use it in a WAN failover configuration.
There are other modems or small routers that are capable to
connect to the LTE bands of us mobile providers but the real
compatibility is there not really guarantied. And on top with
the both named solutions you may be able to upgrade the

I use the phone's hot spot connect to travel modem and then connect to my switch - This is for emergency only -
@q54e3w Why are these 5G modems always so expensive. I highly doubt that the modules are that expensive to make compared to 4G/LTE Class 6 ones. They are just milking the new tech or I am missing something?

You have to dig deeper.
It starts with : when you want to use the frequency range used by "5G", you have to buy that right do so. Normally, that the local government. In France, these frequencies were sold for several (tens of) billions .... take note : just a paper that give 'you' the right to use a frequency range .... no more, no less.Then you have to buy some 5G radio equipment from Huwai or others and mount them.
As the maximum range is rather short, way sorter as 4G, you have to place a lot of these sender / receivers.
This 5G equipment is very power consuming.Every device, like a phone, that has a 5G radio transceiver in it has to pay a 'premium' to 'some one' before it has to right to actually activate it. I'm not sure to who btw. But the same thing existed when GPS was 'the latest tech'.
The social media trendsetters are all paid so they give you the message : "you have to have that phone that has 5G" (otherwise you live isn't as good as the others - or something like that).
So, yeah, if you want to have the latest and greatest, you have to rack up.
You could say : "milking the new tech", and that's true. Some one has invested more in this technology as that most countries have PIB. And guess what : he wants it back

And guess what : he wants it backThanks for the longer explanation. I understand the network aspect of that, more antenas and etc. I was talking more in the perspective of these "mobile modems". I can find LTE ones ranging from 40-150 depending on how cheap/reliable I want to go. However, these 5G ones are wayyy more expensive.
Actually, you just alert me about one aspect which I did not take care of: power consumption. For my specific application I want the mobile be more savier, because probably it will be running on batteries by the time I need it. Therefore, Maybe I need to keep myself on the LTE space for now.

@netboy I will have to remember that, I picked up a little travel router few months back while in hotel for a couple weeks. Got sick of reconnecting all devices every day ;)
