Comcast static IP
-
Hi,
I would like to use the load balancing within pfsense. I have two internet provider –> Comcast business with a fixed IP and Xfinity.
Before I can setup the load balancer I have to confugure the static ip correctly. And this is my problem:After installing pfsense I have my wan configured with the static IP address: xx.xx.xxx.77 and the gateway address xx.xx.xxx.78.
My Router from Comcast is in Bridge mode.
--> no internet connection, as soon as I run it with DHCP I'm connected. Can someone please help me?

I wasn't aware you could use a bridged modem and get static IP's working with Comcast Business..
What model modem did they give you to use?
-
It's from technicolor - DPC 3941b
But what's the reason that I couldn't get an internet connection when I use the provided fixed IP plus the gateway IP from Comcast?
What am I doing wrong? -
Login and check the modem settings. There is generally a checkbox to bypass the firewall for the public block. If you can't get it working, talk to their support. Painful, but sometimes unavoidable.

Hey,
Thanks for the tip. I managed to get the load balancer up and running.
:-)
I have now Xfinity with a dynamic IP and Comcast with a stativ ip.
When I check my public IP address my dynamic Xfinity is shown - how can I setup up my Comcast static IP address as the default address? -

One way is to bridge a third interface to your WAN port and put the static IP's on devices on that interface.
Other is to use VIP's and then port forwarding or 1:1 NAT to the intended devices.
