      Hello,

our local FTTH contractor gives us a locked down fiber router with little to no configurability. Unfortunately the signal on the fiber is encrypted so I was'nt able to switch the router for another one.

For IPv4 I've set up a DMZ and the pfSense behind my fiber router and everything works okay so far.

For IPv6 there are only two options in the fiber router: 1. "bridge mode" or 2. "off".

With "bridge mode" I am getting a IPv6 address on my WAN-interface of the pfSense.
Unfortunately it seems that the fiber router doesn't understand "IPv6 prefix delegation".
All IPv6 addresses I ever get on the WAN-interface are on the same /64 subnet. (I've got a fixed IPv4 address aswell).

Not able to dedicate another /64 subnet so my LAN I read it was possible to use the IPv6-relay function to provide working IPv6 addresses to my LAN, but it never worked so far.

I activated IPv6 relay, set the "downstream interface" to LAN and the "upstream server" to the IPv6 address of the RJ45 side of my fiber router.

      • Is it correct to leave the WAN interface of the pfSense on SLAAC? The pfSense has working IPv6 internet this way.
      • Do I use as "upstream server" the fe80 address of the RJ45 port of my fiber router, or the fd00 address?

What ever I try i'm not getting a working IPv6 address to any computer in my LAN.

Has anyone an idea what else I could try?

Thank you all in advance for your help!

      Regards Felix

I have Fidium fiber they said it’s still on IPv4 so I stated using HE tunnel broker service.
