Installer requires Internet?
-
I went through the process of registering for pfSense, I found that strange. But now I can't seem to install pfSense in the data center because it requires Internet connection. I needed to prepare the unit off-site, with no internet. This was horrible experience. I needed to restore a backup and wanted 2.7, but I never got past this point. Had to give up.
What is going on, pfSense trying to destroy my weekend totally?
I have installed pfSense maybe 50 times in the past (mostly pre 2.7), never had so much pain. Usually just download, burn and boot.
And why can't I just download the iso and extract it? I found the mirror download. I get critical error when trying to unpack and Etcher is corrupting my usb drives when I try to not unpack it first.
Update on the last one: I downloaded 7zip instead of using Windows to unpack. now it worked and I got the iso

At the moment you can still download the ISO here:

Just use the old version. update it after it is working with internet

@JonathanLee Yeah, have to do it like that. Just bad user experience to have to struggle with this when you're on the clock stuck in a data center and can't just access a random network. So hope pfSense changes this...

@fireix I understand when I was still in the field I was one time in a data center for over 18 hours straight working on this huge Cisco equipment that has a special service contact. We had to keep swapping drives and devices back and forth to get configuration and data off for the new drives it was a nightmare call and the parts were no longer made so they sent new stuff that required new cards to work. I felt like a zombie after I left. But it was accessible and running had iOS running and when I started it was completely dead and no parts could be ordered for it in the system, Our team had our hands full with it but we got it going. By the time I left all the needed was an activation code adapted and added to it for all the features it was using again.
