That's good to know. Is there any information as to the the serial numbers when the change took place? Whether it be the complete device or the boards that were corrected?

I don't have a specific serial number but anything that shipped (from Netgate) after May 2017 would have had the new board rev that did not suffer that issue.

Seems like we do still have some boards. Contact our sales guys directly and they should be able to hook you up.

Thanks, Steve... and I did put in a ticket with the "Sales Guys" right away and got Sales Ticket # 2889752879.
Absolutely no response yet, zero. So earlier this week I sent at bump email and all that did was create a new ticket referring to the old ticket...
Anyway, if you know whose cage to rattle, I'd appreciate it. I really don't like playing without a net.

My HUGE Thanks! to you, Jennifer and Josh for getting me the new SG-4860 MoBo. It just showed up today. Yeah, it was a bit pricey but having a seamless restoration path makes it worthwhile.

According to Josh, the fix date on the clock issue was Sept. 7, 2017. Anything after that date should not have the clock problem.

The new question: I was just poking around on the Netgate website and the pages on the SG-4860 don't seem searchable at this point. But I did find SG-4860 in my bookmarks.
I'm not sure what I'm looking for is/was ever available but I wanted to try, Is there any best practices white paper for bringing a new SG-4860 board up the first time? Should I move the mSATA over to the new board before the first power-up? Adding one is covered in the link above. Also, I'm assuming the new board will have a unique serial number already burned into it... or am I wrong? There was zero documentation sent with the new board.

Ah good to hear!
Nothing special should be required to boot the board. It may take longer at first boot while it trains the RAM etc. You may need to set the mSATA drive as the default boot device.
Yes it will have a new serial number, MAC addresses and NDI.

Yep, it did. Fortunately the failure I had was purely on the motherboard. My 128gb mSATA drive was fine. Moved it over and all booted up with the new data from the motherboard. A quick restore from the current in-use pfSense instance and all was well. I sat it on the shelf for a quick change if/when the next failure comes
I did pick-up a new exact replacement mSATA drive so I have that on the shelf now as well.
In speaking with Joshua, he did confirm with his documentation that my other SG-4860 board was indeed after the cutoff date for the clock issue. So that is nice to know.
Is there a place we can access that data or plug in a serial number and get feedback on that issue? I ask because if I have an opportunity to pick up another used SG-4860 I'd like to be able to verify it is not pre-fix before I get it. I just don't want to have to bug you or someone in Joshua's team every time a unit presents itself. If that is the preferred method, I'm fine with sending you or them a serial number every now and then, but don't want to be a pest if I can dig it out myself.

Hmm, there isn't a user interface to the serial number / date cut-off. Feel free to ping me though, there won't be that many requests.
