I just converted a PC I built into a pfsense router for messing around with pfsense. The specs are ryzen 5 5500, 16GB of ram and an intel nic. The main board is a asrock b450m ac r2.0 if that makes a difference. I have noticed issues with DNS resolution as well where domains are not getting resolved (I fixed this by changing the DNS Resolver OUTGOING NETWORK INTERFACES to WAN instead of ALL). The latency spikes also happen mainly when I am browsing the web. It will increase to 1-2k ms for 5-10 seconds. I have been trying to figure this out for a couple of days. I should also note that I am brand new to pfsense.

Are you registering dynamic DHCP leases for the DNS resolver?

Unbound will then restart every time, that's the main problem.

        Netgate 6100 & Netgate 2100

@NOCling I am using a static DNS server. Is the option you’re talking about something different?
