Won't Boot /w New NIC
-
Hi all, At a loss and not sure what to do here. I have had pfSense running for a few months now with no issues. The existing 4 rj45 NIC is a IBM 39Y6138 Intel EXPI9402PTL PRO/1000 PT Quad Port Gigabit PCI-e x4 Adapter NIC. I'm planning up upgrading my speed through my ISP so I wanted to upgrade my NIC as well. I purchased a Intel X710-T4L and here is where the issues arise. -
I replaced the NIC, system posts, but freezes at the boot screen (where it asks for press f2 to enter bios) Wont enter bios either
-
I put in the old card, works fine.
-
I decided to do a fresh install since my settings are not that complicated, same issues, posts and then freezes. I wiped the old SSD I was using, same thing happens.
-
Eventually I gave up and put in the old NIC and did a fresh install and back to square 1 with internet working (thankfully).
Any ideas why the system wont go past the boot screen when the new NIC in installed, tried just about everything I can think of and at a loss. thanks!

The card is bad? Does it work in anything else? What hardware are you trying to use it with? Steve

@stephenw10 said in Won't Boot /w New NIC: What hardware are you trying to use it with? Card works, if I get into the bios before it freezes I can see all 4 interfaces listed. Running on 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 on a Asus H610 mobo /w 16gb of dd4.

Hmm, but it freezes before it starts booting?
-
 correct.
-
That has to be some low level incompatibility. You have the newest BIOS installed?
-
It is not... bios is 04/01/2022 and card has a manufacture date of 6/2022. I'll update and give it a shot and report back. thanks.
