We are about to purchase some rackspace in a local data center and I was wanting to use pfSense to take advantage of CARP. I have been looking for a nice looking system to accomplish this and came across this.

      http://www.rackmountmart.com/rm1u/rm1102.htm

3 LAN ports per board seems like a good fit but I may be missing something.

Does anyone have any experience with this case or have any concerns about it running pfSense?

      thanks

I remember a discussion of the 1U dual wrap cases where someone pointed out that having both boards in one case made it near impossible to swap out a failed unit while keeping the system up. Kind of makes having a failover cluster less useful. If I had to put in a simple carp cluster and had to keep it to 1U, I would probably just rig up two Alix boxes on a 1U shelf.

That is an excellent point. I also noticed the interfaces are Realtek which appear to be questionalble and a single power supply.

          Thanks for the insight.

If you purchase a short-depth 1u server, you could always mount one on the front and one on the back of the rack.
