      i read the pfSense wiki on ESXi installation.
      i think my hardware allows for PCI passthrough of the physical NIC to the pfSense VM - is that not a better option for the WAN NIC?
      or should i follow the guide and create a vSwitch/portgroup/vNIC.

      once i complete the install of the pfSense VM, is there a basic configuration guide i can follow, or is it safe to allow the pfSense VM to connect to
      the internet? and then go from there….

        There has been a lot of discussion about this but I don't see any advantage in using PCI passthrough.

        VMware have their view of course and you can take that whatever way you want  ;)
