      I've been using pfSense for a long time, but I've never paid attention to the little guy that shows up next to each rule description when viewing the firewall log:

      pfSense_Little_Guy.jpg

      Hovering over him with the mouse cursor doesn't pop up any sort of explanation. Clicking on him does nothing. The help for that page doesn't mention him.

      I'm sure that he symbolizes something, but I don't know what.

      Can anyone shed some light on this?

        @Sissy it’s a rule that’s user created.

          @NogBadTheBad Thanks for clearing that up. That was one of my guesses, but I figured I looked dumb enough without possibly making it worse with guesses. 😀

            The question is: aren't all rules are made by the user?
            other than the default rules ofcourse

              @mzeid

              Nope.
              Activate any of these :

              1290de96-edd9-4988-9367-19f176c3327d-image.png

              and pfSEnse will 'auto' generate rules for you.

              pfSense packages like pfBlockerng can also, per admin instructions, generate rules.

              When you use the OpenVPN wizard, a WAN pass rule for the VPN traffic is generated.

              Etc.

              No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
              Edit : and where are the logs ??

                There are a lot of rules that are not user created. If you look at the loaded ruleset in /tmp/rules.debug the user rules are right at the end of the list.

                  @Gertjan

                  Yes these two are the ones I meant by saying "default".

                  but yeah you are absolutely right about the others generated by other packages.

                  @stephenw10

                  Thanks for the info dear 🙏
