I've got a small netgate running pfsense+, and can't get it to update....I think it's because it doesn't have enough memory.

      1. How do I make sure that is the reason for my problem?
      2. If that is the problem, how do I resolve it? Can I move the OS or other components to an attached USB drive or something?

Do you see an error when you try to upgrade?

If it's running ZFS try removing old BEs from System > Boot Environments to free space.

@stephenw10 I removed 1 boot environment (there was only 1 there besides the active one) and tried again. It didn't work. There isn't a helpful error. It gets through extracting boost-libs-1.85.0, unlocks it, then says "Failed".
Memory shows 74% of 958MiB used
Disk shows 1 G of 5.9 being used (it is zfs)
Currently running 23.09.1 and trying to go to 24.11
          What are your thoughts?

Ah, it's an 1100? You're probably hitting a RAM limit.

Try uninstalling any packages before upgrading. You can re-install them afterwards and the settings will be retained.
