Can't enable categories on ntopng

I'm running a 2.4 beta build with ntopng 3.0.170818.  Although ntopng and pfsense appear to be working well, I'd like to enable categories in ntopng.  My understanding is that it will classify and report statistics on site categories like social media, streaming, news, etc.

There is a small blurb that states creation is only possible if the ntopng instance has been launched with option -k flashstart: <user>: <password>How do I go about setting that up?

I know it's quite an old post, but you need a flashstart subscription to do it. They offer a free trial but definitely to pricey for me.
