Upgrading From 2.4.4

Hi,
I have not upgraded my SG3100 in a while, and it's on 2.4.4 currently still. I was hoping to upgrade it to the latest available, which is 21.x at this stage.

I've read online about things failing halfway etc,

1. Should I go to 2.4.5p1 first then 21.02.2? Or just straight to 21.x?
2. Are there any other things I can do to prepare incase the update fails? I've read somewhere that I should download an image?

That's, imho, the best way to go. You will get the latest version, 24.11.
2.4.4 is way to old now. Just rebuild it.

As you have a 3100, go TAC and request for a firmware image.
Build that USB drive.
Make a backup of your pfSense config.
You'll be needing the most important interface, and that's not a NIC, but the console, to work.
And then, have yourself guided by the pfSense documentation, rebuild your 3100.

Yes from 2.4.4 I would just install 24.11 clean and restore your config. That's a big jump from 2.4.X, you'd need to run several upgrade steps otherwise.

Just got the firmware image, now gotta get the courage ;)

Just make sure you have a backup of the config and you can always recover.
