      Hi, I have a machine assembled with pfsense plus latest version 24.11.

      Is it possible to do a full backup of the configuration and restore it on a new machine always assembled based on CE version 2.7.2?

      I saw that in the specifications it says config rev 23.6 for PLUS and 23.3 for CE.

      What does the config rev number refer to? Does it refer to the compatibility between the configuration backups?

        Yes it is compatibility. Older config versions can be imported into a new pfSense and will be upgraded but not the other way around.

        If you import a config backup from 24.11 into 2.7.2 it will complain about the version. It may function since the differences are small and you might not be using any of the new tags. But it might not.

        If you have a backup from 24.03 you should use that if you can.

          @stephenw10

          Thanks

          Is there any word on when and if CE version 2.8.0 will be released and what version of the configuration file it will use, 23.6 or 23.3?

            Nothing fixed yet for a release.

            Currently it's using 23.7:
