Would it be possible to power the Netgate 6100 via a POE splitter?

@codechurn theoretically yes if you use Class 6 (Poe++).
Class 4 Poe+ has 25.5w max power and the 6100 can surpass that while running depending on config and workload.

There is the “small” problem of converting the POE++ output to 12v which the 6100 uses though….

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

Yes you would need some external hardware device to act as the 12V PSU from the PoE. But theoretically it should work. Not something I've ever tested it myself though.

Probably something like this, never had the chance of testing the poe splitters.

Also you'd be usually limited to 1gig speed.

Any thoughts on where one could source a DC barrel to Coax connector that Netgate uses?

It's a pretty standard socket. 2.5x5.5 barrel plug I believe. The only unusual thing is that it's locking.
