TLDR How can I derive the device key from the previous manual backup?

      Same as this person: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/189693/trying-to-restore-device-key-from-old-manual-xml-backup

Basically, I had a power cut whilst my UPS was temporarily out of action. SSD corrupt, config screwed.

Reinstalled pfSense but the manual backup I have is from 2023. I would prefer a more recent one since I was using ACB and there are quite a few settings I have lost since that time.

      Thanks.

If you send me the NDI from the system in chat I can check for any keys that have been used. You still need the passphrase of course.

@stephenw10 Thanks. I have the passphrase saved, just didn't capture the device key...

Did your manual backup include the SSH key data? If so, then it may also be possible to recover the device key that way since the key is based off the SSH key.

It is stored in a backup when you check the box to include them. That option is on by default now but I'm not sure if it would have been back in whichever version you were running in 2023.
