      I bought an older xg1541 that has BIOS 1.2 installed, can I upgrade this with the generic one from Supermicro or do I need to contact Netgate for latest version? No issues but would prefer to get upgrades out the way before putting into production use.

        Yes, you should be able to upgrade it with the Supermicro BIOS. Just be sure to retain the smbios values if you do. You may lose the Netgate splash screen.

        But there isn't any real requirement to do so.
