Besides Squid, is there any way to get decent traffic reports, looking for site traffic too, i.e. top 10 websites visited etc.

ntop-ng will get you a lot of that.

To be a bit more clear
ntop-ng on the firewall does not have reporting capabilities. It cannot give you the top 10 sites visited. There are other versions of ntop-ng that could provide that historical data but you will need to set that up on another system and have traffic port mirrored, etc... Its a whole thing.

What ntop-ng on pfsense can give you is real-time data of what is going where and how much data is being seen currently. Look for that data a half hour later and its gone. Alternatively you could set up a netflow collector but again its a whole thing. There is no easy button on pfsense currently.

I see that, ntop-ng is pretty cool and useful, glad I installed it, like you said there does not seem to be any historical views.

Perhaps this could be a feature request for PFSense ?

You could install it their way with an appropriate license key that will give you the features you want.
