@Kassebasse A few upvotes will do the job.

@Kassebasse more generally: if people upvote what you posted, usually some helpful answers. Or something interesting - like how to turn water into wine šŸ‘¼ (j/k of course about the water/wine thing).

@patient0 I hope expressing an unpopular opinion isn't banned here. I've had such a disappointing experience before. It's hard to believe that freedom of speech could be dead even on the internet.

If it's dead, it's dead especially on the internet. Whatever you say you usually don't face real consequences, it's anonymous enough.

I have no real answer for that, freedom of speech does include the freedom of an answer you may not like.
There are people who do sugar-coat their questions or answers more than other. And there are people that are just rude or are in a bad mood, had a hard day or hear the same thing for the millions time.

There are maybe days where someone don't take a remark personally, other days it feels personal.

This forum is funded by Netgate. I assume they would allow some discussion which maybe harmful to their business but probably not that much.

I do strongly support individual freedom of speech but that is different to

                • Expecting others to amply your speech
                • The very wealth or powerful flooding media with a perspective supportive of their personal goals

As a result I do not consider Netgate moderation a threat to freedom of speech, just some things may have to be discussed in another forum.

                  Yes, that^.

But also posts that read like they were written by AI don't bode well! šŸ™„

This is what I’m looking for. This is what sparks discussion. These are signs of life.

@stephenw10 I know a guy, an immigrant, who is very bad at English. He uses AI to translate and edit his messages. How bad do you think that is?

It's fine as long as the AI is translating accurately.

The problem is that spammers are increasingly using AI tools to generate generic content for replies that appear legit if you don't look too hard. šŸ˜‰

@stephenw10 Unfortunately, translations don't always turn out well. It's important not to forget about humor, traditions, and cultural nuances, which AI doesn't always handle effectively.
