I found this article here and it might be imagine that there is now a WiFi ac support available in FreeBSD 11.1
which is the underlying OS in pfSense´s actual version 2.4.0.

Could this working well or is it all a pipe dream? The supported Intel ac cards are cheap to get the hands on
and there are also several cards that are supported by the iwm(4) driver.

I play with the thoughts to get a cheap one and test it out, but if others are reporting that this is not running
well for them I would be aware of this.

      EDIT:
Here is the missed link to the article I was talking about in the first lines above!

I was founding also another thread on reddit that the Intel wireless ac 8260 chip will be supported and running well.

I have some of the cards listed on that manpage working in a laptop install so I imagine they'd work on pfSense just as well.

        Supported cards:
Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 3160<–- works for me
Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 3165
Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260<--- works for me
Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7265
Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260

The ones I don't have probably work too. The pfSense GUI might not have the code to deal with 802.11ac, but I don't have info on that.
