I have a 2100 running the latest pfsense so when my ISP goes down I can no longer ping any device on my small flat network. The vast majority of devices have a static IP with only a few that use DHCP on the 2100. Once the ISP comes back I can ping again? I have no plugins of any kind.

      IP Manual
      192.168.1.36 my desktop Win 11
      255.255.255.0
      192.168.1.1 gateway my 2100
      DNS the ISP DNS

@oznet pfsense has nothing to do with devices talking to each other on the same network.

How are these devices actually connected to the network - a switch, multiple ports on the 2100? The 2100 does have switch ports.. if your isp connection goes down it could be trying to reset the interface, but that really should not effect the switch ports.

Disable the gateway down action - then say pull the cable from the wan.. Do your device ping each other now?

What error do you see when you try to ping?

Is it only the dynamic clients seeing issues?

Since there are not many ports on the 2100 I use 2 other netgear switches that each one has its own port on the 2100. However I usually do a ping from my android phone and that is where the problem lies it appears. When I go to desktop to laptop the ping works but not on the phone with a ping app when the ISP goes down so it appears either app is crap or the phone using wifi is at issue so will need to look into that.

Yup, so how is the wifi connected? Is that using dhcp?

@stephenw10 It is static locked on mac address so I tried another android ping app and it works when the wan interface goes down so it must be a crappy ping app that I was using
