pfSense 2.8 CE Azure

Hi Everyone,
With the release of CE 2.8 will the dynamic repos now pass branches to Azure for updates?
Unsure if this was a bug in 2.7+ or by design.

@tom9909 I suspect by design so as to encourage Netgates Azure payment stream.
There was a thread looking at Netgate code which included programming to explicitly block functionality of CE on plus supported online hosts but I can't find it now, sorry.

Indeed, only Plus is supported in Azure.

So we have a running pfSense CE rel. 2.7.2 running in Azure, are you saying we cannot upgrade to latest released CE rel. 2.80 on Azure?
Is there an upgrade path to pfSense+ marketplace from our pfSense CE 2.7.2 ?
The cost is a huge issue, as a charity and using 3year reserved azure VM our current costs are a fraction of the cost if we are forced to upgrade to pfSense+ using the azure marketplace vm.

Yes upgrading CE in Azure is not supported. And that includes to Plus.
The only supported deployment in Azure is from the tested Netgate image.
