If you have a media-server in one (v)lan and you need to access the media server from one ore more other (v)lan's, you need a package like PIMD.

Since the formally released PIMD version is quite old and that version does not work any more. I did decide to build a version based on:

      • FreeBSD15 current
      • the never released PIMD-beta and
        https://github.com/troglobit/pimd (master branche) and
      • the old PIMD GUI from Netgate

Both repository did need some minor modifications.

      I the packages available here:
Try and use them on your own risk!

At this moment I have them running on the actual pfSense+ beta, and I assume it will also run on the actual pfSense community edition. I have been using a previous build during the previous years. Without issues

      Some notes:

      • to install the packages, you have to login via SSH
      • goto shell
      • copy the two packages to e.g. /root/mypackages
      • first install the pimd3 package
      • then install the pfsense GUI package
      • configure pimd via the gui, do not forget to set ttl in the interface tab on two
      • allow multicast traffic between the involved (v)lans
      • you can also check if pimd is running via the cmd-line using 'pimctl show'
      • I can not and will not officially support these packages !!

      Enjoy!
