LAN ethernet nic interface issues
-
Hello folks
Recently I have been experiencing internet drops in the firewall. I suspect that it is caused by the LAN network card. It is a network card that I bought on eBay and is the only one of its kind that can be added to an Intel NUC mini computer. The WAN card is the computer's built-in network card. Why do I think it is related to the network card? Because it is cheap and made in China, and recently during one of the internet drops I disconnected the LAN cable and reconnected it and after a few seconds the internet came back. This does not necessarily mean that the problem is there, but it is definitely a possibility. I have been using this card together with the firewall for a total of 4 months. Does it make sense that problems will already occur?
My question is, is there a way to get specific logs about this network card? Because from what I have searched so far in the GUI interface of the firewall, I do not find any logs specifically related to this network card. Please help someone?
Both network cards of the Intel NUC mini computer are manufactured by the same company called PEGATRON CORP. I can see this by the MAC address.link to the nic on ebay :

@johnytb
Why are you only looking for log entries regarding the network card, if you are not sure that it's the reason for the dropouts.If pfSense loose internet, I'd expect that there are related logs entries in the system log.
Did you enable gateway monitoring?
Ensure to monitor a public IP. -

Is it actually losing link? What do you see logged when that happens?
