      Good morning,
      I'd like to upgrade.

      I read online that before upgrading, you need to uninstall all installed packages and reinstall them after upgrading pfsense.
      The configuration of the various packages is saved after uninstallation and automatically restored when reinstalled.

      I wanted to ask if this is true. Do I have to uninstall the packages before upgrading pfsense?

      I've never uninstalled them in the past. What does this mean?

      My packages are these:

      Thanks

        Not sure what you read, and I can't speak to every package you have installed, but I have not uninstalled any packages before upgrading for several version updates now - any package needing an upgrade will get updated as part of the system upgrade.

        some of the packages we have in common are acme, apcupsd, openvpn, pflockerng
        for pfblockerng specifically I have the "Keep Settings" option checked

        I no longer have the upgrade log from 24.11 to 25.07
        but when I later went from 25.07 to 25.07.1 only one package needed upgrading and it was logged and upgraded as part of the system.

        pfSense-pkg-Nexus: 25.07_1 -> 25.07.1_1 [pfSense]

        later that change correctly reflects in the package manager display.

        sometimes depending on the timing of release items like System_Patches will not be available at the time of system update, they will appear as "updates" later when released.

          @Unoptanio per the upgrade guide
          https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-guide-prepare.html#packages

          “The safest practice is to remove all packages before upgrading to a new release. The upgrade process will handle packages automatically, but packages are frequently a source of problems. To ensure a smooth upgrade, note the installed packages, remove them, perform the upgrade, and then reinstall when the upgrade is complete.”

          No it’s not required. pfSense will upgrade packages.

          Yes the package setting remain in the configuration file by default.

          Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
          When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.
