      Hi All,
I noticed a mismatch between the DNS Resolver > Advanced Settings > Query Name Minimization default setting listed in the documentation compared to the description provided inside pfSense (currently running 25.07.1).

      Query Name Minimization
      pfSense: Default is checked (on).
      Documentation: Default is unchecked.
      https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/services/dns/resolver-advanced.html#advanced-privacy-options

When I open the Advanced Settings it was unchecked, which seems to be in-line with the documentation, anyone able to confirm?

@enbirch said in DNS Resolver: Query Name Minimization Default Value:

When I open the Advanced Settings it was unchecked,

        Above you stated the opposite.

@Bob.Dig I should clarify, that is the description inside pfSense, which seems to be opposite the documentation.

@enbirch yeah this seems wrong to me as well.

Doesn't really matter which way it goes.. Not doing minimization is prob the more sane default setting. But yeah it should be consistent in what the default is.

              :)

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, CPU, and/or disk speed.
