Nanostation Loco M2 not shown in DHCP Leases
-
Hello,
I have setup a captive portal and connected a Nanostation Loco M2 on it.
Initially I can see the antenna in Status/DHCP Leases and access it using the IP shown on the list.
After a while it disappears from the list and I can not access it using the IP.
the antenna is working if I try to connect with a wireless device and it shows the captive portal page.
Can you please advice.
thanks

There must be something in the captive portal firewall.
If I connect the antenna on my normal LAN that does not have captive portal I can see the antenna, access it and see all the devices connected to it.
is there something i am missing?
thanks

Hi,
If, for example, you think your issue is DHCP related, you could be sure about that within a couple of minutes :
On a client (already) connected to the Captive Portal, release you IP :
On a Microrosoft Windows PC, you do this :ipconfig /release
and after a couple of seconds :
ipconfig /renew
The DHCP logs on pfSense will show you the DHCP negotiation in real time.
Do the same test with a wired connection, and wireless.
What do you mean when you talk about "atennna" ? Your access point ? And so, how is this AP set up ?
There must be something in the captive portal firewall.
….
is there something i am missing?Yep, you missed this part : have a look for yourself ;)
When you check out this page Captive Portal Troubleshooting you will discover that you can not block DHCP traffic - it passes through using one of the first ipfw firewall rules, before your own GUI rules are used/applied.
Enter console, hit "8" and thenipfw show
and
ipfw table all list
(these are solid for thousands of pfSense installs, yours included)
So, up to you to describe your setup up until something pops up that could look like an issue.

thanks for your help.
I also followed this instructions step by step and it is working now:
Youtube Videoin addition to that I added the MAC of the Nanostation M2 Access point to Captive Portal/MACS and now I can access the Nanostation M2 Settings.
thanks

I wouldn't have my AP management addresses on the same network/VLAN as the captive portal (and the guests) but that's probably just me.

Hello,
yes I dont want my quest to be on the same ip pool with the local access points.
how it is possible to isolate them ?
thanks

Different VLANs. Ask Ubiquiti.
-
that is a good advice.
If I use VLAN on nanostation loco m2 will I be able to see the devices connected on PFSense ?
also I would like to stop using ubiquity for repeaters as they only have ability to link up to 6 repeaters as WDS stations (i already have 8 nanostations) what do you suggest to make a mesh network to cover 9square km with mountains !!!! :)
thanks again for your help.

That all sounds like material for questions for Ubiquiti.
