Im having trouble installing squid on the latest release of pf and heres the output i receive….................

      Downloading package configuration file... done.
      Saving updated package information... done.
Downloading squid and its dependencies... done.
Checking for successful package installation... failed!

Sorry but I was not aware of this mention, I did do a search for squid before posting. My next question would be do I have to burn another iso and do the upgrade or can I feed an upgrade to an all ready working system? Sorry if Im unfirmiliar with pf but Im migrating from linux/ipcop to bsd but I like what I see so far.

Simply feed the .tgz file to manual update under firmware.

I did as you said but the system shows a build date of built on Mon Dec 26 03:13:03 UTC 2005 and your update build shows 23-Feb-2006 17:51  27M . So im assuming that the upgrade is failing. I cant see any mention of failed upgrade in the system logs so Im not sure whats going wrong.

Only full installs are upgradable.  If you are running embedded you need to reflash.

Im running full install. I redownloaded the ISO reinstalled the system, tried to install squid and get the same error. I also dowloaded the update, installed, system rebooted, tried to install squid and get a failed install. I have no idea why im having so much trouble with this, unless im downloading from the wrong place.

I was just about to post that I found the link that you provided but you beat me to it. You should consider putting a link for "testing" on your website so others dont get confused, or am I the ony brainless twit here?  ;)

We are releasing beta 2 any second now, waiting for MFC's on RELENG_6.  As soon as they happen beta 2 will happen.

Was about to say, to avoid all the questions poping up maybe you should replace beta 1.0 with one of the "good/better snapshots", but if beta 2 is any second now, no worries.

Ok I finally got around to installing the squid package but im having a bit of trouble getting it to work. I set it up for "transparent mode" but get an "access denied" output. Am I missing something? I was under the impression that no other configuration was needed when using squid in "transparent mode".
