I'm trying to install Beta 2 on a Lex Light system. The CD boots fine into the BSD menu and then locks up at npx0: [FAST], regardless of which option I select. I've tried the CD on a couple of different PCs and I've tried changing the HDD controller settings to LBA as I've had problems with this before. Any ideas or has anyone managed to get Beta 2 to boot on this device?

      Thanks

        Full version?  Embedded?  Beta2?

It's the live CD 1.0Beta2 iso.

Interesting.  About the only thing that I can think of is trying to boot without ACPI.

Yes, tried every option on the menu with the same result. I had this working before with an alpha version, which installed with minimal difficulty.

A lot of changes are happening all the time in FreeBSD.  We are tracking "STABLE" until 6.1 which means that its somewhat a floating target on hardware.

I would try again on beta3 on this hardware or find another box :/

OK, thanks. I use a lot of these units with IPCop for my clients, so I was hoping to evaluate pfSense as an alternative solution.

it's working fine for me, on the same board…

you're booting from an usb drive? i had same problems (also i can't remember the exact message, but booting stopped after the bsd menu), using an internal drive everything works fine...

No, I've had problems before booting from USB devices so I'm booting from an IDE CD-ROM drive.

Maybe you should compare bios settings and bios version then as you are running the same hardware.

What I did was I tried defaulting the BIOS to standard and performance settings, but neither one worked. Playing around with IDE controller settings mode no difference either.
