Free Switch Question (Can it do this? Multiple office locations)
-
I'm very excited to see the freeswitch package included for PfSense. So much so I ordered a Cisco SPA941 and a vonage softphone line (already use all Vonage service anyway). I understand that this setup should work fine configured correctly, here's my question: I want to have multiple office locations tied together with freeswitch.. can i do that? So that office 1 and office 2 both have pfsense+freeswitch, pick up line on office 1 and dial office 2 extension, it rings. Voicemail could be sperated etc, but it would be nice to be able to connect office to office without tying up an outgoing connection..
Is this possible? I'm assuming yes, but want to make sure- any tips on wehre to look to get it set up appreciated!

I'm the pfSense FreeSWITCH package developer. To answer your question the answer is yet. I do a similar scenario with my brother. Simply set up an extension on one of the systems then on the other system you configure a gateway that registers to that aforementioned extension. Then using the dialplan expression tool to direct your call by first dialing 8 or 9 with 3 or 4 digits and send it to that gateway.

Brilliant, that's exactly how i expected it would work but I'm new to the PBX game and wanted to make sure. I didnt' want to clutter your other thread, but great work!
do you know is it a problem to have two locations using the same SIP service? we only have people (use) at one or ther other a time, but don't want seperate lines… if we could route all calls on one gateway through another gateway that would work just as well... hmm.. need ot keep reading but thanks for the quick answer!

Many providers support more than one registration. Outbound calling can come from more than one location. The system that answers the Inbound call first is the one that gets the call. So ask your provider if they allow multiple registrations. I have asked flowroute.com and they allow it.
You can route calls through one Gateway if you want to do it that way.
