          For the record

pfSense supports any removable media device for configuration if they are formatted as a FAT type.

          Step 1.

Format a floppy disk as FAT or format a USB Keychain as FAT

          Step 2.

Insert the floppy into the computer or the USB Keychain before turning the machine on.

          Step 3.

Turn on pfSense and wait for bootup prompt

          Step 4.

Select option 98 to pick where config.xml should be transferred to.

          Step 5.

There is no step 5.  (Evil laugh).

                    Format the floppy as MSDOS.

Then there should be an option on the console to transfer the configuration to the deteceted device (in this case a floppy drive).

Oh, and this has been covered atleast 3+ times on this forum.  Search.

This way is only for backup config.xml files.
                      :)

No, this is the method of transferring the location of config.xml.  Not backing it up.  Backing it up is only available via the web interface.
