Guys this is realy insane.
i run now pfsense as a firewall for a while. BUt it only gave me trouble trouble troubles
all these little problesm with vpn tunnel not coming up. rules not applied, spend endless hours with looking for a clue on how to get all up and running. and now i found out liek passive ftp is not working still .... . . ???
;/
like why ftp helpers programs and why not simpel like just the forward or the passive portrange forward.
geez is it soo hard to answer all these complaints about passive ftp. and all give another anser then the other. .. i ran the rc3 and upgraded because i need to get this fixed.. and still it looks it aint fixed:/ /ROAR
enabled the fpt helper and the fort forwards with firewall rules and STILL no passive ftp possible
PLS
i am getting desperate.. if i cant get this fixed i need to get another firewall ;(
i tough pfsense was intened to be some nice firewall and witha nice UI.. but liek this it does feel still unstable
A realy realy dissapointed pfsense user. ;(

Everything you see might be related to the filter_reload bug which will be fixed in 1.0.1 (and which already is fixed in our codetree) besides the VPN probelms that you mention. Don't know exactly what you mean with tunnels not coming up as you don't provide details though.

1.0 Release in production here on three machines. Can't be more stable ;)

A really really VERY pleased pfsense user here ;)
Maybe you should post your hardware configuration, and maybe then someone can take a look and see what your problems are?

ok,
what i mean with vpn tunnels not coming up was with openvpn in rc2 when u reboot the firewall it would not start the tunnels correctly.. i had to edit a field somewere and save it, so the firewall would refresh and then the vpn tunnels would be up.
and this big was fixxed in rc3 or 4 not sure anymore.. BUt
now i have it again ;(
ok i have to admit the ftp passive is gone now. so only that "little" thing and i am a happy camper again

Did you follow the openvpn tutorial? http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,2228.msg14399.html#msg14399
Btw, why are you complaining about bugs that have been fixed and were present in a not marked as stable version?
-
is ther possible a workarrounbd for this .. like to add a "refresh command" when the firewall starts?

Hmmm, we didn't have an RC4….and 1.0 had no OpenVPN related changes since RC3, so I'm not sure what your issue is. Might be of more use for you to post OpenVPN related questions and problems to our OpenVPN forum so the appropriate guru's can help.

??? ??? ???
Really sounds funny to me…
I also had a lot of ... not trouble ... but questions ... but that is normal with a "not stable" firewall version < 1.0
But now REALLY nearly everything works
thanks to scotts and bills high speed patches ;) <<<
FTP helper ? Thanks for it to be there but you can surely switch it off and open up your ports, but why do you want a firewall then ?
Perhaps use the IRC or forum and there are surely some guys that can help you… ?
A very very very happy pfSense user
