Enable "device polling" is really a good idea with Realtek Nics ?
-
Hi,
I want to know if the "device polling" option in pfsense is a good option if we have realtek Network card ?
does realtek NIC support this feature ?
thanks

Realteks are horrible. If you want to do something really positive, dump those nics and switch to intel.

Yes ! drop the noname cards.
I would recommend you Intel or 3com cards wich are pretty cheap nowadays in bulk packages.
Like you can read in other posts in this section I suffer a lot with broadcom ones so I advise you not to play with :-( -
Is this nic Intel PRO/100S good enough if u put 3 of them in a pfsense box cause they are desktop adapters? same story with Intel 1000MT nics.

I havent used intel PRO's with Freebsd/pfsense… but as far as using them under windows, they were by far one of the better (if not best) cards for throughput, and not bogging down the rest of the system.
