Small office with three machines. 2 Office machine for email and simple surfing, and one point-of-sale server for running credit cards. All need to be on separate lans.

      -1 WAN (ADSL)
      -3 LAN
      -VPN (2-3 users max)
      -Full install on hard drive

The LinITX FX5620 (http://linitx.com/product_info.php?cPath=4&products_id=909) looks good. But, it's out of stock, in the UK (I'm in the US), and the hard drive install doesn't sound so smooth(http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,577.msg8354.html#msg8354)

      Any suggestions?

nexcom has various systems but most of them are 19" and also are a bit noisy: http://www.nexcom.com/product/productlist.jsp?iid=Network%20Security%20Appliance
Also check out our recommended vendors: http://pfsense.com/index.php?id=40

I didn't realize Hacom had so many 4-lans with hard drive options the first time around. Thanks for sending me back. :)

          -1U Rackmount Intel Celeron-M 800Mhz 4-LAN Firewall/VPN/VoIP Platform  $499.99
          -1U Rackmount VIA 1Ghz Nehemiah Padlock 4-LAN 2-PCMCIA 2-PCI Firewall/VPN/VoIP Platform  $619.99
          -Lex Neo VIA/C3 1GHz Nehemiah Padlock ACE 4-LAN Dual-PCMCIA  $480.00
          -Lex Twister VIA 1 GHz Nehemiah Padlock ACE 4-LAN Dual-PCMCIA 1-PCI  $550.00
          -OpenBrick-E Intel Celeron-M 800MHz CPU 4-LAN 1-MiniPCI  $439.99

          add $50 for 256mb ram
          add ~$100 for Hard Drive
          add $50 for pfsense install

So, looks like one could have a ready-to-run box for ~$640-$720.

Anyone have a good or bad experience to report while trying to run pfsense with a hard drive on any of these?

The devices we got from hacom as donations are running fine. I worked with one of the boxes during the last hackathon, one of the 1U units. They are pretty silent compared to other 1U solutions like the nexcoms.

Did you by chance document the install anywhere?

Was it as simple as installing on another machine and then moving the drive over? Or did it take some hacking to get going?

              Thx
              Anna
