      Hi

      i have set up a new pfsense firewall and want to know the best way to connect it to the DSL line. Do i still need the linksys router or the bt dsl modem?

        You need a DSL modem to connect to a DSL line.  That modem may be in the form of a PCI card, DSL router or standalone modem.

          Some people (especially gamers) turn off the NAT on the DSL modem and put it into "bridge mode" thereby eliminating one "hop" and double NAT.

          You should be able to ditch the Linksys router (unless you use it for wireless) but, as Cry Havok points out, you need to keep the DSL modem.
