          Sounds like you're asking about the same feature that's in m0n0wall. m0n0wall runs entirely from RAM, so once it's booted it never touches the hard drive unless you change the config. Hence, that feature is very useful. pfsense runs from the hard drive, and logs to the hard drive, etc. Your drive will never be idle long enough to shut down so there's no sense in such a feature.
