Low Profile Wireless Card
-
Hi all,
I am wanting to build a pfsense computer and do wireless on it also, however, the only computer that I have available for the job is one of the thin type gateways. So to be able to do wireless on it I need a low profile wireless card. Does anyone know of one that would work for this? I went through the hardware compatibility list and the cards it listed did not say they came with low profile brackets (atleast the cards I could find information on). I would prefer it comes with its own low profile bracket so I can ensure the card fits, but if someone has experience with a card that fits for sure and you just have to cut the bracket down I can do that if needed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Get something with an atheros chipset. Maybe you find something at http://madwifi.org/wiki/Compatibility that fits your needs. Those cards listed there should work fine.

Thank you very much. That list should do the trick. Thanks again and I can't wait to get the system up and running! (should be tons better than my current wrt54gc…stupid compact version)

ar5212 chip. I picked up 3 of these a few weeks back, work great with pfsense.and honestly I dnno why it is so fewkin' hard to buy the short brackets separately + easily + inexpensively. the only times I have ever seen them is either bundled with vga cards or very expensive raid cards.
