Routerboard 44 and routerboard 44G
-
Hi to everybody!
Anyone says about compatibility Pfsense with routerboard 44 and 44G
(4nic pci cards)?
Links to product's web page is http://www.routerboard.com/rb44.htmlThe chipsets are Via Rhine III (routerboard 44, may ok from official
compatibility list), and Realtek 8169SC (routerboard 44G, not present
in the list but is present Realtek 8169S).Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Andrea Menchetti.

I believe both should work. Ask routerboard if they're compatible with a stock FreeBSD 6.2 install. If so, they'll work.

I'm very interested in what you found out about this board.
Any info?

Hi,
okay I got the RouterBoard 44 4port VIA Technologies VT6105M (VIA Rhine III chip) http://www.routerboard.com/rb44.html.
Two ports are working and the other two not on RELENG_1. dmesg follows:
vr0: Ethernet address: 00:0c:42:02:6f:2f vr1: <via 10="" vt6105="" rhine="" iii="" 100basetx="">port 0x1200-0x12ff mem 0xb4100200-0xb41002ff irq 19 at device 9.0 on pci3 vr1: Using force reset command. vr1: MII without any phy! device_attach: vr1 attach returned 6 vr2: <via 10="" vt6105="" rhine="" iii="" 100basetx="">port 0x1100-0x11ff mem 0xb4100100-0xb41001ff irq 16 at device 10.0 on pci3 vr2: Using force reset command. vr2: MII without any phy! device_attach: vr2 attach returned 6 vr3: <via 10="" vt6105="" rhine="" iii="" 100basetx="">port 0x1000-0x10ff mem 0xb4100000-0xb41000ff irq 17 at device 11.0 on pci3 miibus2: <mii bus="">on vr3</mii></via></via></via>
vr0 and vr3 are working.
Actually I googled for MII without any phy! but I only got hits for sis cards, so I am not quite sure how to fix the issue.

Seems like this issue is related to the mainboard I am using. If using the same multiport NIC in another box everything is working as expected without any issue.

Thanks Daniel you are faster than the Mikrotik support!
I'm waiting for an answer from sales dep of Mikrotik
(for routerboard 44 and 44G obviously…), about compatibility
for FreeBSD 6.2.Anyway I'll try to buy them an test with standard ATX hardware
and mini-itx hardware.Update 01 Aug 2007: Mikrotik support responds to me that routerboard 44 and 44g
are fully compatible with FreeBSD 6.2 and they are planning to make some PCI Express products
(maybe PCI will gone in the future...)Regards.
